If you insert a CD or DVD into your computer, it may take some time until its contents are fully loaded and you may explore them. With BrowseCD, you can view a CD's folders faster and easier, on an explorer-like window. This lightweight application does not require any kind of configurations and it is very easy to use.

You don't have to go through an installation procedure before you can use BrowseCD. It consists of a single executable file, which is only 213 KB. The application is free and it works on all Windows versions.

All you have to do is include BrowseCD's executable among your files, when burning a CD or DVD. It is important to remember that you have to place the executable in the root directory. When you load your freshly burnt CD, you can run BrowseCD to show your folders in a tree structure, just like on a standard explorer window.

The application provides a few options for expanding or collapsing the entire tree structure, opening a selected folder in Windows Explorer or loading a different folder. It is also possible to copy a selected folder, along with its contained files, to a location of your choice.

If you copy BrowseCD's executable in a specific folder and run it, the application will display that folder's entire sub-folder structure. This means that you can use the software with any other removable memory device, including USB drives. Alternatively, you can place a copy of BrowseCD in a folder, on your hard drive, if you want a clear view on the folder's contents.

Pros

BrowseCD displays a folder's entire sub-folder system in a tree structure. You just need to place its executable in a parent folder. The application is not limited to CDs or DVDs, so you can use it with any other removable memory devices or your local folders.

Cons

BrowseCD does not display the files in your folders. With BrowseCD, you can view the entire sub-folder system of any parent folder, on any removable memory device.
